How we help

Advocacy and social change

Our policy and advocacy work is grounded in our role as a national provider of community-based psychosocial support.

Our advocacy work

Drawing on lived experience, service delivery practice and system analysis, we identify where policies, funding and commissioning arrangements are not delivering equitable or sustainable outcomes. We take a constructive, solutions-focused approach, working with governments, funders and partners to shape practical, evidence-informed reforms that strengthen community mental health systems.

Our core focus is psychosocial support reform. We advocate for a coordinated national approach across the NDIS, Primary Health Networks and state and territory systems, and for stable funding and recognition of community mental health as essential national infrastructure. This includes strengthening the psychosocial workforce and influencing the design and commissioning of integrated models of care — including Medicare Mental Health Hubs and safe, supported and affordable housing and homelessness responses that underpin recovery.

Policy statements

Our position statements set out Neami’s views on key policy issues. They outline the problem, explain why it matters, and articulate clear principles and recommendations to guide reform and decision-making.

Our social change programs

Through a range of projects, we develop the capabilities and resources to adapt and respond to support positive change.
