We’re here to support your mental health and wellbeing

The Latrobe Mental Health and Wellbeing Local is a free service supporting Victorians aged 26 years and over to get mental health and wellbeing support, closer to home

We will work with you and, if you are comfortable, your family, carers and supporters, to design a care plan that meets your goals and preferences.

All support is free, and you do not need a Medicare card or referral from your doctor .

Who is this for?

The Latrobe Mental Health and Wellbeing Local is for all Victorians aged 26 and over to get mental health support closer to home.

A safe place for everyone

You don’t need to be an Australian citizen or resident to access this service, and you don’t need a Medicare card.

We can provide safe and confidential support to everyone, no matter your circumstance.

The Latrobe Mental Health and Wellbeing Local welcomes families and carers. We can provide a range of support, including:

• education and support for families, carers and supporters of people experiencing mental health and wellbeing challenges and/or substance use or addiction.
• assistance to carers with their caring and support role.
• support for carers and loved ones with their own mental health and wellbeing needs.

Community Link Program

As part of the Latrobe Mental Health and Wellbeing Local, link workers are employed to support meaningful social connections and wellness for people aged 26 and over through social prescribing.

Social prescribing is a way to connect people with non-clinical community activities to support health and wellbeing. This can include art or outdoor activities, information sessions, existing community groups and more.

The program can also connect existing guests and carers with events and activities at the Mental Health and Wellbeing Local.

Link workers strengthen pathways between individuals experiencing mental health challenges such as social isolation and loneliness, facilitating meaningful social connections, promoting a sense of belonging and allowing people to thrive.

The Latrobe Mental Health and Wellbeing Local accepts referrals from GPs, mental health services, community services, carers and families. We also encourage self-referral.

If you or someone you support is between 12 and 25 years old, please visit or contact your local headspace centre for mental health and wellbeing support.
