About Mental Health NDIS Access Support

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) provides support for people with disability, including those living with significant mental health conditions. NDIS support can make it easier to manage daily activities and stay connected with your community. 

The Mental Health NDIS Access Project supports people with mental health conditions to apply for the NDIS. We work with you, your family, carers and health services to make the process easier to understand, navigate and complete. 

Who is this for?

You may be eligible for this service if you:

  • live with a significant mental health condition 
  • are experiencing high levels of difficulty with day-to-day tasks 
  • need help to apply for the NDIS.

What to expect

We can support with:

  • gather supporting evidence and complete your NDIS Access Request 
  • liaise with your GP, psychiatrist or other health services (with consent) 
  • act as a contact point for NDIS-related queries, if you choose
  • provide extra evidence if requested by the NDIS
  • follow up on the progress of your application with the NDIS or Local Area Coordinator (LACs) 
  • guide you through reviews, appeals and eligibility reassessments
  • support you to attend Community Connections meetings with a LACs (phone or online).

We also:

  • provide free interpreters for people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds 
  • ensure services are culturally safe and respectful for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

The Mental Health NDIS Access Project is delivered in partnership by Neami National, EACH and ACSO, and funded by the Victorian Government.
