About Universal Aftercare

Universal Aftercare provides non-judgemental support to people and their loved ones following a suicide attempt or experiences of distress and/or suicidal crisis.

People accessing the service receive individually tailored support to connect them to both clinical and community-based services to meet their needs.

We also help people build connection with their personal networks such as family, friends, peers and carers.

This is an outreach service. Our team meet people, and those supporting them, in a place of their choosing.

Who is this for?

Universal Aftercare is for people in the South Western Sydney area aged 15 years and older, following a suicide attempt or experiences of distress and/or suicidal crisis.

What to expect

Once we’ve received a referral, we make contact within 24 hours and arrange to meet consumers at a place of their choosing.

The program is personalised to meet individual needs, providing non-clinical care and practical support for up to three months.

Our support can include everything from building a personal wellbeing plan to referrals to community-based services such as financial or relationship counselling. We can also support accessing clinical care when requested.

Support can be provided face-to-face or over the phone.

How to access this service

Referrals can be made through treating clinicians via hospitals, emergency departments or community mental health teams in the South Western Sydney local health district.

If you are a health professional and would like to refer someone, please email: SWSAftercare@neaminational.org.au
