LifeConnect

LifeConnect provides compassionate support to those who have been impacted by suicide and to build capacity and understanding for all to play their part in preventing it.

We aim to connect people to a sense of purpose and meaning; and collaborate with communities in strengthening our shared response to suicide.

Our prevention activities include wellbeing workshops as well as community and workforce training aimed at building capacity to recognise and respond to the risk of suicide.

We provide:

• LifeSkills workshops – Resilience and wellbeing each play an important part in early suicide prevention.
  Our LifeSkills workshops have been developed for people in our community to learn about the impacts of stress, respond to emotions and explore gratitude. We share practical tools to move through and grow from all of life’s experiences.
• Reach Out and Connect Suicide Prevention training - Neami LifeConnect provides free suicide prevention training to increase the confidence and skills of participants to recognise and respond to the risk of suicide in their communities and workplaces.

Did you know that research shows being thankful for the good things, even when times are tough, can increase happiness and wellbeing, reduce stress, improve relationships, and lower the risk of suicide?

Sometimes things don’t turn out the way we expected. Having the ability to find your way through life’s challenges is essential to our wellbeing and mental health.

Our LifeSkills workshops are designed to help you develop tools to strengthen resilience and better cope with life’s challenges.

We offer a range of evidence-based workshops that focus on the key elements of resilience including:

• Managing stress
• Understanding control
• Mindfulness and gratitude.

Who are the workshops for?

Our workshops are suitable to anyone in the community who would like to develop skills in managing some of the more challenging aspects of life, and can be tailored to the particular needs of your group – whether that’s your staff or colleagues, community group members, or at-risk clients.

Suicide prevention training: Reach out & Connect

Suicide prevention is much more than responding to a crisis. Knowing how to identify and respond to early warning signs that may be present long before a suicidal crisis is equally as important as knowing how to respond when a crisis hits. Most of us can feel uncomfortable talking about suicide. We can be paralysed by thoughts like “What if I say the wrong thing?” or “I don’t want to put the idea in their head”.

Our Reach Out & Connect training has been developed to equip people with an understanding of what factors can lead to suicidal feelings and practical tools to respond. We support workforce and community groups to enhance their confidence in having conversations about mental health and suicide and build an awareness of where to find help and how to link people to support. Our content is based on the latest research in suicide prevention and workshops are facilitated by our team of multi-disciplinary mental health professionals, including staff with a lived experience of the impact of suicide.

Who is the training for?

The training is suitable for a wide range of audiences including health professionals, human services workers, corporate services, community groups and sporting clubs – and can be tailored to the particular needs of your group.
