This new leadership position will join our National Leadership Team and be responsible for Lived Experience practice, workforce development, continuous improvement, and transdisciplinary practice.
Many of Neami’s newest services operate with a transdisciplinary practice model, aiming for a balanced 50-50 split of designated Lived Experience and non-Lived Experience roles. This approach has doubled the size of the Lived Experience workforce at Neami within two years.
Members of the recruitment panel for this role include Dr. Louise Byrne and Ryan D’Lima, as well as Neami Executive Directors for Operations, Kim Holmes and Helene Nielsen. This mix of perspectives and expertise intentionally balances Lived Experience and non-Lived Experience roles.
Neami Board Director, Ryan D’Lima, brings his senior Lived Experience leadership and expertise to the recruitment process. Ryan has over a decade of dedicated service in consumer and Lived Experience roles.
He has worked with federal and private mental health hospitals, also public mental health sectors in frontline Peer work, and in Peer Lead and Peer Coordinator roles.
His experience is at both state and national levels contributing towards Lived Experience/Peer frameworks, Peer research publications, and as chair of the NSW Mental Health Consumer Peer Workforce Committee, coordinating the consumer workers forum. Ryan’s involvement demonstrates the Board’s commitment to elevate Lived Experience at all levels of the organisation.
Lived Experience consultant, Dr. Louise Byrne, is involved in the recruitment process bringing a valued external perspective. Louise is widely acknowledged as a leading international expert in the area of Lived Experience workforce development and Lived Experience-led research.
Louise has worked in various designated Lived Experience/peer roles since 2004, including positions in the government and not-for-profit sectors, and academic positions since 2009.
Kim Holmes and Helene Nielsen, Executive Director Operations, oversee service delivery and operations nationally.
They bring combined expertise, insight and management across our Therapeutic Supports services, Mental Health Hubs, Community Connection and Wellbeing, and Safety and Homelessness Services.
Neami values and celebrates diversity including multidisciplinary teams and the unique backgrounds, experiences and contributions that each person brings to our community.
Neami encourages First Nations peoples, LGBTQIA+, people with disabilities, and culturally and linguistically diverse people to apply for this role.
We aim to create a workforce that is accessible, inclusive and reflective of the communities in which we live.
