Neami National welcomes recommendations to better support people with psychosocial disability in the Final Report of the Independent Review into the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).
We support the report’s call for a whole-of-sector approach to reform, acknowledging an effective NDIS is only one element crucial to a robust, sustainable disability support system.
Neami is a proud member of the Australian Psychosocial Alliance (APA), which made a submission to the review, informed by consultations with sector and lived experience representatives.
We feel encouraged by the recommendations, including those aligning with solutions proposed in our submission.
Tom Dalton, Neami National CEO, said the review’s recommendations were a positive step towards improving the lives of people with psychosocial disability.
“It’s pleasing to see the review’s final report includes recommendations to address the unique needs of people with psychosocial disability, several of which align with solutions proposed in the APA’s submission,” Mr Dalton said.
“We look forward to working in partnership with NDIS participants, government and other stakeholders to progress and implement this potentially transformative reform.”
