About this service

Neami Nepean-Penrith offers case management to people who have been referred to Sustaining Tenancies in Social Housing via a closed referral pathway through Homes NSW.

We support people while also assisting them to strengthen their connections to the community and support networks.

Who is this for?

To access this service you must:

be the primary tenant of a social housing property
have concerns that may be putting your tenancy at risk, such as rent arrears, property damage, difficulties maintaining your property, or concerns raised by neighbours or your housing provider.
experiencing wellbeing challenges that may impact your tenancy
be willing to engage with Sustaining Tenancies in Social Housing, as this is a voluntary, consent-based program
live in suburbs supported by Penrith, Blacktown or Mount Druitt Homes NSW offices.

What to expect

Sustaining Tenancies in Social Housing (STSH)

The Sustaining Tenancies program offers outreach and case management support for people in social housing. It helps address complex needs that can affect keeping a tenancy.

The STSH team liaise with other services to assist in supporting people to maintain their homes, by requesting:

brokerage for arrears

financial counselling

support in accessing NDIS, or coordinating clients’ NDIS plan

cleaning support

furniture or material aid

food support

psychological support services

supportive family intervention services

medical services, including Occupational Therapy and General Practitioners.

We offer support that helps each participant, and the members of their household manage a tenancy independently.

The program helps prevent homelessness for those at risk and increases social connections to improve overall wellbeing.

Sustaining Tenancies in Social Housing

Sustaining Tenancies in Social Housing (STSH) assists people living in the Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ) Social Housing to maintain their tenancy and increase their overall wellbeing.

How to access this service

To access the Sustaining Tenancies in Social Housing (STSH) program in Penrith, you first need to be a tenant with Homes NSW at Penrith, Blacktown or Mt Druitt local housing office.

Referrals are made directly from the local housing offices to STSH after Homes NSW has determined there is a need for support to sustain your tenancy – if you have concerns about your tenancy, please make contact with your Client Service Officer to discuss further.

We welcome people of all backgrounds, including those from multicultural and multifaith communities, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, refugees and people who identify as sexually and gender diverse.
