About Neami Hendon

Neami Hendon provides individual and group support to meet people’s mental health challenges alongside housing and homelessness support.  

We support people in their recovery while also helping them to strengthen their connections to the community and support networks. 

Neami Group Programs

We provide a range of group-based recovery-orientated psychosocial services to assist people living with a mental illness to build capacity, develop independent living skills, confidence and self-reliance.

Group programs may include

  • Arts-based programs across Country and Metropolitan Adelaide
  • Flourish (Self-development recovery group with a focus on wellness)
  • Health Promotion group programs to address holistic health needs

Other group-based programs to meet the needs of the community

Who is this for?

  • People aged between 16 – 65 years
  • Living with a serious mental health challenge
  • Groups will be provided across metropolitan and some regional areas

What to expect

Neami group programs

Groups are facilitated by Neami with a wide range of knowledge and experience around recovery and wellness.

At times 1:1 individual support (including coaching) may be provided to participants focusing on their strengths to achieve their identified goals.

Group programs will focus on supporting participants in the follow areas:

  • Learn new skills and build on existing competencies through vocational and edicational activities
  • Develop confidence with community living
  • Increase structure in daily routines
  • Improve levels of self-esteem and psychological well-being
  • Improve physical health
  • Source social activities that assist with a reduction in social isolation.

Safe & Secure Housing Program

The Safe & Secure Housing Program provides support for women and their children who are in crisis accommodation due to domestic and family violence to transition to secure housing.

Our aim is to support you and your children to feel safe and secure

Whilst assisting you with your housing needs, our dedicated team will be working alongside you to provide support for your emotional wellbeing, physical health, employment, connections to family and community, and building relationships.

How to access this service

Referrals can be made by individuals (self-referral), carers, family or friend, mental health professionals or other health care providers.

Referrals and consent must be discussed with the individual prior to making the referral.

We encourage referrals from people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, youth and refugees.
