As a national mainstream service provider, we have a particular responsibility to develop strategies, projects and policies that move beyond ‘treating everyone the same’, to consider the unique circumstances of oppression, marginalisation and discrimination that can impact the access of people and communities to services. As specialists in mental health support and recovery, we have an obligation to recognise and respond to the disproportionately high rates of mental illness and psychological distress amongst marginalised populations and communities.
