Neami National has released a new Insights paper exploring what people receiving support through the Wellness Connect Commonwealth Psychosocial Support Program (CPSP) say matters most in psychosocial support.
The paper, Understanding experiences of Commonwealth Psychosocial Support Program, draws on research undertaken on the Wellness Connect program in Adelaide. It brings together insights from a 2025 participant consultation designed to better understand people’s experiences of support and what these experiences can tell us about effective psychosocial services.
The findings highlight the importance of safe and welcoming pathways into support, strong and trusting relationships with staff and flexible, person-centred approaches that build confidence, connection and wellbeing. Participants also emphasised the value of group programs and the need for evaluation approaches that reflect lived experience and the broader realities of people’s lives.
While grounded in one program context, the paper offers broader insights for the design, delivery and evaluation of psychosocial support services.
