Step Thru Care – Geelong Otways

Step Thru Care – Geelong Otways offers free mental health and/or alcohol and other drug (AOD) support.

The team includes people with diverse backgrounds who support individuals, natural supporters and families experiencing mental health and/or substance use challenges.

It is a safe and accessible service where people don’t have to repeat their story to multiple providers.

The team is made up of mental health and AOD clinicians, child and family practitioners, a care recovery coordinator, and peer workers who have lived experience of mental health and/or substance use challenges.

Step Thru Care is available to people who:

• live in the Geelong Otway region
• experience mental health and/or substance use challenges
• are not currently receiving similar support through another funded service. For example, National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), headspace, or a private practitioner.

Step Thru Care supports people across the lifespan, with priority groups including people: 

• on low income 
• who identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander 
• from multicultural and multifaith communities
• who identify as LGBTIQA+ 
• aged under 12 
• experiencing perinatal depression 
• experiencing or at risk of family violence
• experiencing suicidality
• with intellectual disability 
• living in rural and remote communities who don’t have access to other appropriate services 
• in areas impacted by natural disaster experiencing short-term displacement or homelessness.
