Social media guidelines

Neami’s social media guidelines help create safe, respectful online spaces focused on health and wellbeing.

Welcome to Neami National’s social media community. We’re here to create safe, respectful online spaces focused on health and wellbeing. Across our Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and YouTube channels, we encourage positive, respectful engagement in line with our values: connecting, learning, collaborating and belonging. Help us to keep this community welcoming and supportive for all by adhering to our guidelines.

The following guidelines are in place across all our social media accounts and will be actively implemented by our moderators. Our social media profiles are moderated regularly between 9am and 5pm AEST, Monday to Friday. We encourage you to report anything that you feel is inappropriate and/or that breaches these guidelines.

If someone breaches these guidelines, we will delete the material and contact the author to explain why, except when we are unable to make contact because of a user’s privacy settings.

Neami National’s social media accounts are currently moderated by the Neami National Engagement team. Please email us at communications@neaminational.org.au if you have any questions.

We encourage you to:

  • be respectful of other people and their views – even if you don’t agree with them
  • be mindful of privacy for yourself and others. What’s posted online can’t be considered private and could be shared publicly without your knowledge
  • be sensitive and considerate when discussing mental health. Others may be reading while feeling unwell
  • try to be factual, relevant and current in the information you post and correct your own mistakes promptly.

We may remove or hide any content that:

  • attacks an individual or group – including material that incites hatred, harassment, is abusive, obscene, discriminatory, or could reasonably be offensive to others
  • contains swearing or offensive language
  • could be thought of as professional advice, including about health and legal issues
  • violates state or federal laws
  • includes advertisements or other promotion of services or organisations
  • infringes copyright or other intellectual property laws
  • names individuals or any personal details, including contact numbers, addresses, email addresses, etc. – including your own.

It will be at our discretion whether content is adhering to these guidelines.

Please be aware that the Neami National’s social media pages are not monitored 24 hours. If you or someone you care for needs immediate emergency assistance, please call 000 or Lifeline 13 11 14.
