Last month, Simon Katterl, CEO of Mental Health Lived Experience Peak Queensland hosted the human rights in community mental health webinar, facilitated by Jemima Isbester, Neami National Lived Experience Practice Lead.

The webinar explored how human rights principles can, and should, shape the future of community mental health practice in Australia, with strategies for individuals and organisations to embed this into their workforce.

Topics covered include:

  • How human rights operate within community mental health
  • The role of Lived and Living Experience Workforces in supporting human rights centred care
  • Human rights and anti-discrimination legislation across different states, and how these can support human rights at the community and organisational level
  • Opportunities and limitations of current human rights legislation
  • Steps non-Lived Experience Workers can take to establish a human rights aligned culture within their teams.
