About Neami Salisbury

Neami Salisbury provides a range of Community mental health programs streams, aimed to support people aged 16 year and over who have experienced acute and chronic episodes of mental illness.

In practice, people often have a range of other complex needs as well. Each person is provided with a voluntary package of varying length to meet their needs.

What to expect

Individual Psychosocial Rehabilitation and Support Services (IPRSS)

We provide individual recovery support to people experiencing mental health issues.

Individual Psychosocial Rehabilitation and Support Services (IPRSS) offer one-to-one coaching and group activities for people linked to public mental health services.

Intensive Home Based Support Services (IHBSS)

IHBSS (Intensive Home Based Support Services) provides psychosocial support for people who either have experienced acute episodes of mental illness requiring hospitalisation or who are at risk of being admitted to hospital.

Program participants are provided with up to three months of intensive support aimed at preventing admission or relapse, facilitating early discharge, and transitioning back into the community after leaving hospital.

The type of support provided is dependent on individual needs and goals. Examples of things we can help with include:

  • Taking part in social and community activities, and connecting with local services.
  • Improving relationships with family and friends.
  • Improving physical health and wellbeing.
  • Building confidence with everyday tasks such as budgeting, public transport and home care.
  • Pursuing education and employment opportunities.

How to access this service

Referrals can be made by individuals, carers, families, mental health professionals or other health care providers.

Referrals must be discussed with the individual prior to making the referral.

We encourage referrals from people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, youth and refugees.
