About Neami Wollongong

Neami Wollongong provides individual recovery support to people experiencing mental health challenges in the Wollongong area.

We support you in your recovery while also strengthening your connections to your community and support networks. We work with you to identify your own strengths, values, and goals to help you to move towards the life you want.

Who is this for?

The eligibility criteria varies for our different programs. Please contact this service to discuss whether our programs are suitable for you.

What to expect

Commonwealth Psychosocial Support (CPS)

The CPS program delivers non-clinical, community-based supports provided by mental health professionals, including peer support workers with lived and living experience of mental health challenges. Supports include:

  • service navigation
  • linking consumers with support services e.g. GP, psychologist
  • support with National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) eligibility testing and assisting consumers to apply
  • psychosocial support – recovery-orientated, community supports, one-to-one support, telehealth and group support
  • Active8 – a physical health program that offers one-to-one coaching and group opportunities such as physical health coaching, healthy eating sessions and tobacco management
  • WorkWell – helping people gain employment.

Together Home

Neami Wollongong is a support provider for the Together Home program. The program delivers outreach support to people who are living in the local community who previously experienced homelessness. The focus of the program is to support people to sustain their tenancy and build a meaningful life in their community.

Housing and Accommodation Support Initiative (HASI)

The HASI program provides supports for people living in the community with mental health challenges and complex needs. The program provides people support in partnership with housing providers and community mental health services.

The type and amount of support varies depending on the needs of the person accessing the service.

We walk alongside you

The way we work with people is responsive and very human in its nature. This means being flexible and working at your pace – meeting you where you’re at.

Through ups and downs and when no clear answers are ready. We respect your choices, your ways and what you want to be supported with.

The reasons people access support from Neami, and what we aim to offer, are diverse, often complex and usually without ready-made solutions.

Collaborative Relational Practice is how we work.

It has been designed to guide our approach across Neami’s diverse services and programs. It reflects the best of what people value about us, and helps us to sustain our culture and values.

At Neami, we value the know-how that people have about their own lives. And we will support your rights and efforts to influence decisions that will affect your life. We’re not here to judge your choices or your boundaries. We are here to help you with the things that matter to you

How to access this service

Referrals can be made by individuals, carers, families, mental health professionals or other health care providers.

Referrals must be discussed with the individual prior to making the referral.

We encourage referrals from people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, youth and refugees.
