About Connect to Wellbeing

Connect to Wellbeing provides streamlined access to mental health services for people in northern Queensland. 

Following a ‘no wrong door’ approach, Connect to Wellbeing provides a single point of entry to psychological services. Offering intake, assessment, triage and referrals, Connect to Wellbeing connects people with the right service at the right time. 

What to expect

‘No wrong door’

We offer intake, assessment, triage and referrals, providing a single point of entry to psychological services in northern Queensland.

Person-centred

Drawing on our experience to determine an individual’s needs, our skilled clinicians use a person-centred approach supported by holistic assessment tools.

Community connections

We work with each person to ensure that the right service is available at the right time and stay connected to ensure GPs and referrers are kept informed.

Stepped Care support

We focus on integration with the broader health care system and through our connection to the community we help people to move easily between programs as their support needs change.

Available supports

Low-intensity Strategies

The provision of psychological interventions delivered via telephone and web-based services.

Psychological Therapies

For low income / financially disadvantaged people with a non-acute moderate mental health condition who would benefit from short-term goal-focused psychological strategies.

Psychological Therapies in Aged Care Facilities

Psychological support for people in Residential Aged Care Facilities (RACFs) who would benefit from short-term goal-focused psychological strategies.

Suicide Prevention Services (low to moderate risk)

Suicide Prevention Services provides support for people following a suicide attempt or self-harm incident, people who have expressed recent suicidal ideation, or people otherwise at risk of a suicidal crisis.

Telehealth Specialist Services

This service provides a consultation under Medicare via video conferencing by a consultant psychiatrist. Only GPs can make a referral to Telehealth Specialist Services.

National Psychosocial Support Measure (NPSM)

Psychosocial support (for up to 12 months) for people with a severe episodic mental illness resulting in a reduced functional capacity.

Mental Health Integrated Complex Care (MHICC)

Provides longer term (up to 2 years) clinical support and treatment for individuals with severe mental illness with complex needs resulting in reduced functional capacity.

How to access this service

GPs, Primary Health professionals and community services can refer people to Connect to Wellbeing.

People in selected areas of northern Queensland needing mental health support can be referred to Connect to Wellbeing.
